The story
In a gleaming retro-futuristic America, silver-tongued salesman Jack Billings leads a crew of door-to-door hustlers selling timeshares on the Moon, for a rocket launch that somehow keeps getting delayed. When Jack discovers that one small town is home to Joey, the grown son who does not know Jack is his father, he decides to stay put, even as his shaky operation threatens to come crashing down.
Why it matters
Hello Tomorrow! showed Apple TV (then Apple TV+) backing an idiosyncratic, retro-styled original built around Billy Crudup, also a star of the service's The Morning Show. Critics found it visually striking but faulted its rambling story, and no second season has followed its single ten-episode run in 2023.
