The story
Harry Bosch is a dogged LAPD homicide detective working out of Hollywood, a military veteran with a renegade streak. Drawing on Michael Connelly's novels, each season sets him on tangled murder investigations that collide with police politics, ambitious prosecutors and courtroom foes, while he tries to be a decent father to his teenage daughter Maddie and keeps digging into his own mother's unsolved murder.
Why it matters
Bosch was one of the drama pilots Amazon put in front of viewers for feedback before committing to a series, and it grew into a seven-season staple. Its world then kept expanding, with the sequel Bosch: Legacy, the Ballard spin-off and an MGM+ prequel, showing how a streaming original can become a long-running franchise.
