The story
Sixteen-year-old Wayne McCullough Jr. from Brockton, Massachusetts, has a short fuse and an unshakeable sense of right and wrong. When he learns where the 1979 Pontiac Trans Am stolen from his late father has ended up, he sets off on a dirt bike with Del, the girl he has fallen for, to take it back, meeting a host of oddballs and crooks on the long road to Florida.
Why it matters
A critically admired YouTube Premium original, Wayne pulled in more than 10 million views for its first episode within five days, yet was cancelled after one season as YouTube scaled back its scripted ambitions. It remains officially available on YouTube to Premium subscribers.
