The story
The gods of Greek mythology still rule, and Zeus – all-powerful, deeply insecure – keeps his Titan brother Prometheus chained to a cliff as punishment for meddling. Prometheus, who narrates, has spent years waiting on a prophecy, and now sets out to topple Zeus through three mortals who have no idea of their part in his plan: Eurydice, Caeneus and Ariadne. Jeff Goldblum plays the king of the gods.
Why it matters
Kaos is an example of Netflix backing an ambitious, offbeat British drama – a darkly comic reworking of Greek myth with a cast led by Jeff Goldblum, shot on location in Spain and Italy – and of how quickly the service can move on. Despite generally favourable reviews, it was cancelled within weeks of release.
