The story
Fresh from slipping away with a powerful artefact, a variant of Loki, the god of mischief, is swiftly collared by the Time Variance Authority, a paper-pushing agency that keeps history on its approved course. Facing deletion, he strikes a deal to help agent Mobius hunt down a dangerous fugitive who is tearing through the timeline, a chase that forces him to confront who he really is.
Why it matters
Loki gave a supporting film villain the room to grow into a complicated leading man across two seasons of streaming television. Marvel Studios said it was its most-watched Disney+ series as of May 2022, and its time-bending story was built to lay groundwork for the wider MCU.
